What changed #

Diodes Incorporated issued PCN-2824 on 28 April 2026, classifying it as *"Discrete & Analog Semiconductor, End of Life."* The implementation date — the last order date for parts that carry a lifetime-buy opportunity — is 28 October 2026, with a last ship date of 28 April 2027 for the 187 codes that do offer a lifetime buy. As of 1 October 2026, that leaves buyers roughly four weeks to place final orders through the franchised channel.

The notice removes 207 ordering codes, the large majority of them legacy Zetex small-signal and power discretes that Diodes absorbed with the Zetex acquisition: through-hole E-Line (TO-92-compatible) bipolar transistors, vertical DMOS MOSFETs, and a range of SOT-23 surface-mount devices. These are not high-runner commodity parts; they are the kind of long-tail discretes that quietly hold up audio, industrial, automotive and instrumentation designs for a decade or more — which is exactly why a last-time-buy window matters.

Why buyers should care #

A four-week window is short for any production planner, and it is especially tight for the automotive-grade codes on the list. Fourteen of the affected codes carry Diodes' Q suffix, meaning they were qualified to an automotive flow. Any replacement needs a fresh PPAP and re-qualification, and that cycle rarely fits inside four weeks. If one of those Q-suffix parts sits on a Tier-1 bill of materials, the realistic choices are *buy the entire projected need now* or *open a re-qualification project that will not close before the window shuts*.

The other pressure point is the no-replacement group. For 20 of the 207 codes, Diodes offers neither a lifetime buy nor a named substitute. After 28 October, distributor and broker stock is the only remaining supply. These are precisely the parts that attract remarked and counterfeit inventory, because demand outlives the manufacturer's willingness to ship.

Affected families, by the numbers #

PCN-2824 sorts the 207 codes into four tables; the table you are in decides your options.

FamilyWhat it isApprox. codesExample parts
ZTXE-Line bipolar transistors, small-signal to ~5 A113ZTX851, ZTX1048A, ZTX690B, ZTX453
ZVN / ZVP / VN10Vertical DMOS MOSFETs, mostly E-Line34ZVN3306A, ZVN4306AV, ZVP2110ASTZ, VN10LP
ZXM (ZXMN/ZXMP/ZXMS/ZXMHC)Surface-mount MOSFETs, incl. SOT-2322ZXM61N02FTA, ZXMP6A13GTA, ZXMS6001N3TA
ZDTDual bipolar transistors12ZDT1049QTA, ZDT6702TA
FMMTSOT-23 bipolar transistors10FMMT411, FMMT591
Other (ZXT, ZX5T, FZT, FST, ZHB)Mixed bipolar and SMT parts16FZT957QTC, ZXTP2012A, ZHB6790TA

Fourteen of those codes carry the Q automotive suffix (including ZDT1049QTA, FMMT411QTA, FZT600BQTA and ZXMS6001N3QTA).

What the four tables mean #

TableReplacement?Lifetime buy?CountBuyer meaning
1NoNo18Only existing stock remains; redesign or second-source
2NoYes (until 28 Oct 2026)181Order the full need now; no drop-in substitute named
3YesNo2Use the named replacement; no LTB window
4YesYes~6Named replacement and an LTB window — easiest path

The split is the key takeaway: 187 codes (Tables 2 + 4) still have a lifetime-buy window, but 187 of them have no named replacement, so a last-time-buy order is also a de-facto end-of-design-life decision for those parts. The 20 codes in Tables 1 and 3 have no LTB at all — the clock there has effectively already stopped, and only shelf stock is left.

This is not the only Diodes discrete EOL in the window. The earlier PCN-2822 (issued 5 May 2026) ends a separate set of Diodes rectifiers and discretes with a last order of 30 October 2026 and last ship of 5 May 2027. Buyers standardizing on Diodes/Zetex discretes should review both notices together, because their lifetime-buy deadlines fall within two days of each other.

RFQ and sourcing checks #

Risk signalBuyer action
LTB deadline 28 Oct 2026Place LTB orders through the franchised channel before the date; confirm NCNR (non-cancelable, non-returnable) terms in writing
No-replacement codes (Tables 1 & 3)Secure distributor stock immediately or start re-design / second-source qualification now
Automotive Q-suffix codesEscalate immediately — PPAP re-qualification will not fit the window; buy projected need
Last ship 28 Apr 2027Align build plan; anything required after that date must be inside the LTB quantity
Through-hole E-Line stockVerify package, date code and lot traceability before purchase
Legacy Zetex counterfeiting riskInsist on franchised or authorized-channel traceability; avoid unsourced broker stock

Practical takeaway #

PCN-2824 is a classic long-tail obsolescence event: a large block of legacy Zetex discretes, a hard last-order date of 28 October 2026, and no manufacturer-supplied replacement for most of them. The right move in the next four weeks is mechanical but urgent — pull every Zetex/ZVN/ZTX/FMMT/ZXM code from your active and forecast BOMs, map each to its PCN-2824 table, and for the no-replacement parts decide explicitly between a last-time-buy and a redesign. For the 14 automotive Q-suffix codes, treat the window as already closed for requalification purposes and protect production with a committed LTB quantity. Where a redesign is unavoidable, open the second-source qualification now rather than after the ship date passes.
