Signal conditioning
Operational and current-sense amplifiers
SG Micro operational amplifiers buffer and amplify sensor voltages; current-sense amplifiers measure the small voltage across a current-sense resistor. Precision paths depend on offset and noise, while faster signals also require enough bandwidth and settling performance to drive the next stage.
Measurement and control
Data conversion and voltage references
ADCs digitize measurement inputs, DACs generate commanded analog outputs, and voltage references set the scale for conversion. Converter resolution is only one part of the signal chain: reference error, input range and noise also affect the result, while the interface and conversion rate set the data flow to the controller.
Signal-path selection
Analog switches and multiplexers
SG Micro analog switches select or disconnect signal paths, while multiplexers such as SGM4518 connect several channels to a shared measurement input. On-resistance and leakage affect precision; capacitance and settling behavior affect how quickly the selected channel can be sampled.
Supply-rail design
LDO and switching voltage regulation
SG Micro LDOs regulate a rail with a linear pass device, while switching regulators convert power through a switched energy-storage circuit. LDO dropout and dissipation constrain low-noise rail design. Switching supplies add inductor, layout and switching-noise considerations when supplying larger voltage changes or loads.
Power-path control
Power switches and battery management
Load switches connect or disconnect a board rail and its load. Battery chargers manage charging, while protection devices monitor the battery conditions defined for that device. These functions occupy different positions in a portable power path, so the required charging or protection function must be identified separately from load switching.
Load and switching control
Motor and gate drivers
SG Micro motor drivers control motor windings, while gate drivers provide the drive signal for external power transistors. Integrated and external power stages differ in current capability, heat dissipation and control connections. The motor type, bus voltage and protection behavior determine which arrangement fits the circuit.
Industrial equipment
Battery testing and industrial measurement
Battery-formation equipment controls charge and discharge while measuring cell current and voltage. SG Micro amplifiers, ADCs and voltage references can form the measurement chain, with DACs providing analog control outputs. Industrial controllers can also use analog multiplexers to share an acquisition circuit across several sensor channels.
Automotive signal and supply circuits
Body controllers and cockpit electronics
In body controllers and cockpit electronics, SG Micro automotive parts handle sensor conditioning, local voltage regulation and load drive around the main controller. Qualification and operating limits remain attached to the exact device, and its package and circuit connections must match the vehicle design.
